Marco Island Vacation Plans is a small, independent guide to Marco Island and the Paradise Coast — written by people who watch the tide charts on purpose.
There is no shortage of Marco Island content on the internet. Most of it is the same eight paragraphs reworded — a list of beaches, a mention of shells, a stock photo of a sunset, and no sense whatsoever of what a Tuesday actually feels like here in August.
We started this site because friends and family kept asking the same questions before they flew down. Which beach do you actually go to? Is the boat tour worth it? Where do we buy groceries that aren't marked up forty percent? What month should we come? So we wrote the answers down, and then we kept writing.
Why we stay anonymous
We're not a media company and we're not trying to build personal brands. Several of us work in and around the local hospitality trade, and being able to say plainly that a place has slipped — or that a well-reviewed restaurant isn't worth the wait — only works if we're not worrying about who we'll run into at the marina on Saturday. So the byline stays as "we." The recommendations are honest because of that, not in spite of it.
How we research a page
- Weather and water data comes from long-run NOAA and National Weather Service climate normals for the Naples/Marco Island area — not one memorable vacation.
- Prices are ranges we observe across the season from public rates, then re-check. They are a planning tool, not a quote.
- Places get visited. Repeatedly, usually, because a restaurant on a slow Wednesday in September and the same restaurant in February are two different businesses.
- Operators get vetted before we name them — licensing, safety record, and how they handle a weather cancellation.
How this site is funded
This is a small operation with small costs. Some of the operators and businesses we recommend are people we know personally and have worked alongside in the local tourism trade — we'd rather say that out loud than have you wonder. It doesn't change what goes on the page: we don't recommend anything we wouldn't book ourselves, and no one pays for placement.

We only write about places we've been
Every beach, restaurant, marina and boat ramp on this site is somewhere we've actually stood. If we haven't been, we say so rather than repeating a press release.
No pay-to-play listings
Nobody buys their way onto a recommendation page here. When we point you at an operator, it's because we'd send our own family to them.
Prices and conditions are ranges, not promises
Southwest Florida pricing moves with the season, and weather moves faster. We publish honest ranges and tell you to confirm directly — because you should.
We update instead of deleting
When a restaurant closes or a rate shifts, we edit the page and change the date. Guides that quietly rot are worse than no guide at all.
Tell us and we'll fix it.
Restaurants close, captains retire, and rates climb. If a page here is out of date, we genuinely want to know — corrections make this thing worth reading.
