Marco Island in May.
If you don't mind heat, May is a steal. Prices drop by half, the Gulf is warm enough to swim at sunrise, and the beach feels private again.

Weather
Highs 85–88°F, lows in the low 70s. Water 78–81°F. The first short afternoon thunderstorms arrive the last two weeks — usually 30 minutes, then sunshine again.
Prices
Beachfront condos at $300–$500/night. The JW Marriott drops below $400 midweek. Memorial Day weekend is the one exception — book that early or skip it.
What to book first
- A morning boat tour — afternoon storms are real.
- A jet ski or kayak rental — the off‑season rates make it worth doing both.
- Memorial Day dinner if you're in town for it.
What to skip
Stone crab — season ended May 1. Order grouper or local snapper instead.
One local note
Lightning is no joke here. If you hear a rumble, get off the beach and out of the water. It clears in 30 minutes.
